About

Kaya Wurtzel is a multi-disciplinary artist interested in moving slowly through questions of entanglement. Their practice situates itself in a politic of use, making precious objects meant to be touched, marked, changed. She sees all creative work as inherently collaborative, rich with opportunity to play with collective emergence and release control.

Kaya grew up in Georgia, where her mom taught her to knit and sew as a child. They move through the world with their hands first, grounded in the tactile. Their work invites others back into their bodies, beginning with their hands. What do you touch? How does it feel?
